Last day before returning to work.. So "tree" down and Daisy emptied of her Christmas stuff. A frosty start but we headed to Cannock Chase for a walk, with Kate and Logan and Bobby, Karen and Misty, and of corse Beau. A nice walk but ending with some very muddy dogs, bathtime needed!
Found a little time to give Daisy a wash, and once over. After taking Des some food and his flask it was time to do a little "work" ready for the return tomorrow...

Mixed bag Saturday...
A busy day doing nothing! Haircut, bank, after we decided as we never watch anything on it, we would cancel Sky and changed broadband, which will save quite some money over the year! Then to Wickes to get some bits for work, a quick cuppa at Mums and then home. Quick visit to take Des, a rough sleeper so food before deciding we would have a night in!

Old year, New year...
So, to see out the old year and see in the new, we took a trip in Daisy to Manor Farm in Charmouth, a 450 mile round trip. The drive down was steady and once at the camp site we converted Daisy to the worlds number one hotel and then we hoped on the bus to Lyme Regis. A bite to eat and a couple of beers before we caught the bus back and then a couple in the George and a walk on the beach before a bottle of bubbly back at Daisy.
New Year's Day and a cuppa at Seatown before heading back into Lyme Regis and a stroll around the shops, a paddle.... Very cold!, and then fish and chips to finish.....
Friday the 2nd and after some time tidying in the garden, a trip to Birmingham to take part in Critical Mass, the first of the year and not a great turnout at 16, but plenty of chat and as ever a good fun ride, repeating the roundabouts, and general smile on face riding.

Icy Ride
Another day off, and an early ride over the Chase. I should have maybe waited for the sun to get up a little more as the roads (lanes) were still a little sloppy! Still the Chase was fun if only for a short ride. Home and a bath to warm up, I then turned to making some window shields for Daisy. The thermal ones from the VW places are £70.00 odd. £11.00 for a roll of thermal insulation from Wickes, some rubber suckers from Wilko and an hour later, we'll not bad if I say so myself. My T-shirt from the Black Spoke Collective came and my new Docs had arrived at Barton, so at least I will enter the new year in style. A small issue with Daisy, the wash wipe stopped working... An hour messing has appeared to solve... One of those busy days!

Frosty start... Or not
So, after an oil change yesterday, up and out this morning to a non start, hoping it's the cold and the fact we hadn't been for a "runout".. Any way, a jump start and a run round all seems to be fine, but another cold night ahead so we will see in the morning!

A new Daisy?
So, 27th March, the MOT..... to be honest, we are hoping that there should not be too much amiss(!), but we have rather let the body work "go". Daisy had a "DIY" body refurb. some years ago, (before our ownership) but the fact it was a "DIY" job is now only too visible, with the filler used in the doors cracking, and all four wheel arches showing the results of a filler/weld combination!
So, we have decided that, bracing ourselves for a "fail" on the bodywork aspect of the MOT, (the rear inner valence has all but rotted away!) to get the "bottom" half sorted and send to the body-shop! Wheel arches, inner and outer, doors cut and patched, rear inner valance.... all topped off with a new coat of paint........
We are also taking the opportunity to have a small sort of the inside, with a little TLC on the interior units, these have never been great, with screws that are too long, "lids" that don`t fully open etc....
The whole "project" is too take four weeks or so... so we are hoping to have a better looking Daisy for the Summer... and beyond!
But, this will just be the start, the plan will be to complete with a top half respray next year... but with several more items on the "to do" list - top is a new wiring loom... but we will need to get passed the bodywork "bill" before we think about more!
